Please pick the item(s) that you want from either/or the Appetizers, Brunch or Lunch Menu. Do this for yourself and any guests that will be attending with you.
Please total your order. The Club will collect a check from you for your meal(s) and then Club in turn will write a single check for the Event.
Note that the Seasonal Muffin changes week-to-week and of course the “Catch of the Day” will be what ever is being offered on 1/16. The description for those items shown below is just what was on the menu the week that this selection form was created.
Deadline for Menu selections is 1/13/2010 so that we may expedite service at the event.
The plan will be that when you arrive that morning (plan on being there by 11am) we will have a card for you to place on your table to assist the wait staff in meal distribution. We are planning on meal service beginning at 11:15am.

Prescott Highland Games.
| May 8, 2009 | to | May 9, 2009 |
We have been invited to show our cars at the Prescott Highland Games. This is only a one day event at Watson Lake in Prescott. The idea being tossed around that we might go up on Friday evening and spend the night in Prescott to avoid setting off at O’Dark thirty.
Possibly make a weekend of it and stay till Sunday. Several people have expressed an interest in doing so, if you would like to join in let me know ASAP and I will try to get us a group rate at America’s Best Value Inn which we have used in the past. Not fancy but OK. As in Phoenix we will get free entry to the event. Find out more details at http://www.prescotthighlandgames.com
Navajo Arizona Road Trip
| May 23, 2009 | to | May 24, 2009 |
DCTRA Navajo Arizona Road Trip
Details as of April 24, 2009
Are you ready for a weekend road trip? Have you ever been to the Petrified Forest or Painted Desert? Would you like to do a little rock hounding? How about if dinner, overnight accommodations in Navajo AZ and breakfast are included? Well here are the latest details of the event I proposed at our last meeting…
Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend – May 23 and 24 – are now the official event days. (Friday afternoon arrival and Monday departure dates are possible if you let me know what you would like to do.)
Free accommodations are at a two bedroom, two bath house with a large living room located three miles north of Navajo AZ – exit 325 on I-40. Guest accommodations include three single beds, a double bed, two couches, a reclining chair, and lots of floor space. The house sits on 40 acres of grazing land and is easily accessible by any Triumph via a dirt road AS LONG AS IT DOES NOT RAIN. Cell phone coverage is excellent at the house so no need to worry about getting lost.
You are welcome to bring a camper or travel trailer if you do not wish to drive your Triumph. You will need to bring a sleeping bag or sheets/blanket for your free accommodation!
If you would rather stay at a motel, Chambers AZ is 10 miles east of Navajo and has one motel – The Best Western Chieftain – (928) 688-2754. The Chieftain is rated as two stars by Michelin so do not expect any turn down service with chocolate on your pillow. Holbrook is 40 miles west and has about 25 motels including the usual roadside chains to choose from.
The “Official” Schedule starts Saturday May 23:
7:30 am Meet at McDonalds in Fountain Hills on Shea north of SR87, aka the Beeline highway.
7:45 am Leave for Payson via SR87 – about 65 miles of driving.
9:00 am Arrive in Payson – eat a big breakfast at one of the cafes on the south side of town.
10:30 am Depart Payson via east SR260 to north SR277 (near Heber) to north SR377 to SR77 to Holbrook – about 100 miles of driving. Tour Holbrook, buy any groceries you wish and fill your gas tank!
12:30 pm Meet at Jim Gray’s Petrified Wood Co. south of Holbrook at the intersection of SR77 and SR 180. Enjoy the petrified wood display out front and tour the showroom. Visit petrifiedwoodco.com for more details and your free pound of petrified wood coupon. Just remember to declare any petrified wood you have when entering the Petrified Forest National Park.
1:00 pm Depart the rock shop heading east on SR180 for about 20 miles to the south entrance of the Petrified Forest. Pay the park admission fee ($10 per car I believe). Get a map and take your time viewing the many exhibits. Try not to speed too much through some of the twisty turns. The Painted Desert is at the north end of the park. Plan on being at the north entrance around 4:30 pm – about 50 miles of driving.
4:30 pm Meet Armand at the North entrance to the Petrified Forest Park. If you are running late, call 602 904-1037. We will drive about 20 miles on I 40 east to Navajo AZ, exit 325. The house is three miles north of the Navajo exit on county road 7003.
6:00 pm Dinner begins the evening activities. Rib eye steak, baked potatoes, salad, etc. are on the menu. Then a movie will be projected on the living room wall. And outside around the fire pit you can watch for falling stars.
Sunday May 24:
8:00 am We will start with breakfast including bacon, eggs, fruit, juice, coffee, etc.
9:00 am Rock hounding for petrified wood and other rock specimens within walking distance of the house. I know of many places where you can easily find enough cool rocks to de-arch a Triumph spring or two!
Noon Departure for those who want to easily get home by 5:00 pm
If you are interested in this little road trip, please let me know. I do not expect rain this early in the summer so we should be good. However if it rains, the normally dry Crazy Creek will live up to it’s name and anything that is not four wheel drive will be sucked into the muddy road.
Thus far, Pete Peterson, John & Kathy Nuss, Pam R at Pueblo Design, Virgil & Marlene Cole, and John Horton have expressed interest in this “little road trip”. Please let me know if you wish to attend.
It truly is a neat place to visit and all are welcome to attend.

DCTRA @ PIR
| January 31, 2009 |
On arrival park in the area of in-field Turn 2 (track maps will be suppied to those who RSVP). At Lunch time we will form up in the east end of the Cold Pits and when the last group race/DE comes off track and the workers break for Lunch we will take the cars out on track behind the Pace Car for a lapping session. Figure maybe six laps or about 15 minutes. Speed probably kept to about 50mph.
For those that think 50 will be too slow consider that every student I have ever had as PIR goes through the Oval portion of the track at no faster then 65 their first time out and this is in a session with no speed limit. I happened to watch a little bit of the last NASCAR race at PIR and saw that the telemetry off their cars was showing a speed through the part of the oval that you will be on being no faster then 110.
Then the cars would come back in and park in the same area near infield Turn 2. We will have lunch (sandwiches, sodas, etc…) and watch some of the races/groups from there when sessions start backup after Lunch.
I will be teaching the regular HPDE1 class that morning so would meet up with you after the 2nd classroom session for the lapping event.
Cost: FREE. Just have the club pay for the sub sandwiches and drinks.
NASA provides pretty good sub sandwiches (from Subway) for the Instructors for our lunch so could have them bring in a couple of extra platters for us and we just bring a cooler with drinks and anything else we would want to have.
All you would need to bring if you wanted was a chair to sit in and eat lunch. Then wander the paddock looking at some of the cool cars that are always out for these events.

Ok folks here are the additional details…
NASA (http://www.clubracingaz.com/) will be running at Phoenix International Raceway this coming Saturday (1/31/09).
The tentative schedule for the event is as follows
8:00AM 8:25 AM HPDE3
8:25 AM 8:40 AM NASA TT Group 1
8:40 AM 8:55 AM NASA TT Group 2
8:55 AM 9:20 AM HPDE2

10:15 AM 10:30 AM NASA TT Group 1
10:30 AM 10:50 AM HPDE3
10:50 AM 11:05 AM NASA TT Group 2
11:05 AM 11:25 AM HPDE2
11:25 AM 11:55 AM HPDE1
11:55 AM 12:25 AM Lunch/ Time Correction
12:25 PM 12:40 PM Small Bore Race Qualify
12:40 PM 12:55 PM Big Bore Race Qualify
12:55 PM 1:20 PM HPDE3
1:20 PM 1:35 PM NASA TT Group 1 (RACER MEETING IN REG ROOM)
1:35 PM 1:50 PM NASA TT Group 2
1:50 PM 2:20 PM HPDE1
2:20 PM 2:45 PM HPDE2
2:25 PM 3:05 PM Race
3:05 PM 3:30 PM HPDE3
3:30 PM 3:55 PM NASA TT Group 1 & 2
3:55 PM 4:20 PM HPDE2
4:20 PM 5:00 PM Time Attack
This means that I will be in the classroom with my Students (HPDE1) from 8:00am to 9:30am. My Students will be on Track for their first session at 9:45am. I’ll again be in the classroom with them from 10:20am to 11:15am. They will go on track for their second session at 11:25am until the lunch break at 11:55am
The 30 minute lunch break for workers is scheduled for 11:55am to 12:25pm
Our planned Pace Car lapping session is to occur during the Lunch break.
Immediately following our coming off track will be the qualifying event for the Small-bore racecars which in turn is followed by the Big-bore racecars. Perfect timing in that the 30 minutes following our outing the Racecars will be running for their qualifying sessions.
The two race groups will be running together for their 30 minute Race at 2:25pm.
Since I will be with my students when you arrive I’m hoping that John Horton will be coming out to help direct you to where you need to go.
Take I-10 to the Avondale Exit and go south until you run into PIR at the base of the Mountain. Turn into the first entrance to the facility after you come across the bridge. (print out and consult the map that I will put on the website (http://www.dctra.org/?p=267).
Follow the yellow line indicated on the map. When you come to the area marked with a red X you will be stopped to sign the Track Waivers and be given a wristband.
Continue through the tunnel and into the paddock following the yellow line shown on the map. The area marked with a yellow X is the planned area for us to park over by the Road Course Turn 2.
To enter the track for our session you will drive back toward the paddock area and follow the Red line shown on the map to take you under the Pedestrian bridge. The grid worker at the entrance to the track will direct you to the Grid where we will get ready to go on track behind the pace car.
Obviously if you have timed your arrival to be just before the session is planned (hopefully not arriving at 11:55am but more realistically by at least 11:30am) you could probably head directly toward the Grid area. That is where I will be seeing my Students off with their in-car instructors.
After we come off track we’ll drive back to the Turn 2 area for lunch. I have not heard yet if NASA will be doing Subs or Pizza. Whichever it is I have asked them to supply us to (I gave them a head count of between 25-30 with probably 15 cars based on the RSVP and other enquiries that I have received (see below and if you want to come and your name is not on the list let me know ASAP!).
As I stated before your car does NOT need a rollbar. You do NOT need a helmet. The weather forecast for Saturday sounds like it will be fantastic with a forecast high of 76 and Sunny.
If you want to come but your TR is not running so you think you can’t come bring the family “truckster” instead.
I would recommend that you might want to bring a folding chair if you want to sit down, although you will certainly be tempted to walk the paddock to see the cars on track from various vantage points as well as to just see the cars in the paddock.
Here is a link to a video at Youtube that I use in my Classroom. It is one of our Instructors out in his Honda S2000.
